Nisshinbo's Audio Switching Driver with Load Diagnostics
Tokyo, Japan, September 20th, 2024 — Nisshinbo Micro Devices, a leader in innovative electronic solutions, proudly announces the launch of the NA1150, a cutting-edge audio switching driver designed for automotive applications. This innovative product is designed to create microcontroller-based sound systems with robust features and high efficiency, making it an ideal solution for instrument cluster systems, infotainment audio, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
The NA1150 audio driver, built using advanced CMOS technology, delivers a monaural Bridge-Tied-Load (BTL) output with a peak output power of 1.5 W, providing superior audio clarity and is powered from a 5 V supply. BTL is a method used in audio amplifiers to deliver higher power output to a speaker without increasing the power supply voltage. In a BTL configuration, two amplifier outputs are connected (bridged) to the speaker, each driving it in opposite phases, hence the name Bridge Tied Load. The device operates within an input voltage range from 2.6 V to 5.5 V and has an ultra-low quiescent current of just 2.0 mA, ensuring a power-efficient choice and compatibility with various automotive power supply systems.
What sets the NA1150 apart is its comprehensive load diagnostic and safety features. The integrated diagnostic function can detect various faults such as speaker short or disconnection, short circuits to ground or the supply voltage, making it easier for system designers to ensure reliability and safety in their designs. When a fault is detected, a signal is sent to the connected microcontroller through an open-drain output, facilitating immediate corrective action. The device also features built-in protection mechanisms such as undervoltage lock out (UVLO), thermal and over-current detection, ensuring reliability under harsh conditions within an extended temperature range from -40 °C to 125 °C. It is also AEC-Q100 Grade 1, ensuring the highest level of automotive reliability.
One has an option to select between a small DFN2323-8-GS and VSP-8-AF (under development) package and requires a minimum of external components, offering a space-saving solution for voice speech and sound reproduction applications. The NA1150 is available for purchase now; for more detailed product specifications and purchasing information, please visit our official website and refer to our list of qualified local and online distribution partners.
