ADXL 100x Series
In recent years, many industrial sensor manufacturers have been providing solutions for monitoring the condition of industrial machinery and other equipment, but many of them are using expensive sensor units that use piezoelectric elements.
The new high-performance MEMS acceleration sensor ADXL100x series, developed by Analog Devices, offers innovative improvements in sensing accuracy in addition to the small size, light weight, low power consumption, low cost, high reliability, robustness, and high integration characteristic of conventional MEMS acceleration sensors, providing a powerful breakthrough for equipment status monitoring applications.
The ADXL100x series has 4 main features.
1. Product lineup that can be selected according to the measurement target
2. Excellent noise characteristics in wide band
3. Stability and robustness by MEMS structure
4. Benefits for wireless / embedded applications
1. Lineup for multiple input range and bandwidth
The ADXL100x series offers multiple full-scale range options, providing ultra-low noise density over a wide frequency range, making it ideal for industrial health monitoring products.
2. Optimal for monitoring of equipment in ultra-low noise and broadband
For example, the ADXL1001 and ADXL1002 provide 25μg∛Hz noise even at 0.1Hz bandwidth.
This ultra-low noise characteristic makes it possible to monitor low frequency vibrations in low rotation speed
equipment such as wind turbines and abnormal vibrations in motor bearings, and to predict equipment
failures at an early stage.
3. Outstanding stability with MEMS
The ADXL100x series is less sensitive to temperature and frequency bands, eliminating the need for expensive calibration. The MEMS structure is also shock resistant and has an absolute maximum rated input range of
10,000g.
4. Low power consumption, self-test and over-range capability for various applications
The ADXL100x series operates from a single 3.0V to 5.0V power supply with a supply current of less than 1 mA and low power consumption of 225uA on average in a power-saving standby mode of operation, making it
ideal for wireless devices.
These products also include full electrostatic self-tests and over-range indicators to enable advanced system-
level capabilities that are useful for embedded applications.
Also, the package is a small 5 mm x 5 mm x 1.80 mm LFCSP.
"EVAL-ADXL100x" board makes immediate evaluation available
The 2 sets of spaced vias for the pin header make it easy to attach to a prototyping board or PCB, and the
small, rigid board is designed to minimize the impact on user systems and acceleration measurements.
The EVAL-ADXL100x is a simple evaluation board that allows you to quickly evaluate the performance of the
ADXL100x series.
The EVAL-ADXL100x is specifically designed to be mounted on a mechanical shaker, consisting of a 0.8
"square, ultra-thick printed circuit board with screw holes to secure it to the shaker block. This design allows
the full range performance of the ADXL100x Series to be evaluated without soldering the device to a separate
test board.
A simple RC low-pass filter is used for -3dB bandwidth output ; this component can be replaced and a low-
pass filter specific to your application can be implemented at the device output.
